I had not been to Bamboo Wok for probably at least 10 years when I frequented it often. I stopped due to my diet, but since diets change, I decided to go back . Still the same family running the place. Same woman at the counter and the same cooks from year's ago. It was not so great a night to go back. Apparently someone had placed a huge order and the small place had filled up with people waiting to order and to pickup which put the order ready time about 20+ minutes late. The food is what it is for one of these places in a Publix shopping center. The thing is, it is one of the better ones. The sweet and sour chicken is good. Sauce on the side so it does not get soggy. Sure it does not have pieces of pineapple, but you are talking a $10 container of take out to in many of the Asian restaurants of equal proportion $18. I also got the house special lo mein which was good too as well as the egg rolls. The quality if consistent, usually ready when expected and friendly owners. I think that is proven by the crowd of customers waiting for their food and no complaining from anyone for the unexpected delay. I was looking on their picture menu board over the cash register area. I asked the lady if they have black pepper chicken cuz I didn't see it up there. She said back to me black pepper chicken and I said yes. Then she asked if I wanted to combo with rice, I said yes and I ordered meat wontons. I normally check my order before I leave but I didn't. And the reason why it was hotter in there than it was outside they didn't have the air conditioner on and the fans in the lobby weren't on. So I just went to the house. I ate a couple of wontons on the way home. They weren't meet wontons they were more like a wonton egg roll. Then I go to eat my black pepper chicken and it was nothing more than like little bitty fried chicken pieces and rice. No flavor no black pepper and they had so much rice made up what's a new restaurants do but it was not warm. I spent like 23.00 and didn't even get a drink. She spoke English but it wasn't the best. But her son was in the lobby and if she didn't understand what I was saying she should have said something to him. Hate saying unfortunately I won't be back

Good place for take out Chinese. Food is fresh and reasonably priced. Place is clean.

They’re my favorite place to order General Tso’s from. We drive quite a bit of the way to go see them. I love this shop. They’re friendly, fast, and courteous. The foods yummy. Will happily keep going back.

I feel compelled to give a poor review. In my opinion, Bamboo Wok is the absolute worst Chinese food in the city of Tallahassee. The Kung Po Chicken was finely diced breaded, deep fried, not stir fried. It is not supposed to be breaded. The peanuts were not cooked with the food. They simply sprinkled them on the top. Most places put whole dried chili peppers in, they used graded. It neither smelled nor tasted like Kung Po Chicken. The rice was simply colored. It didn't look or taste like fried rice. They obviously avoided the correct cooking process and took short cuts in the preparation of this food. You can tell a good Chinese / Asian Fusion restaurant by the number of repeat Asian patrons. I doubt many, if at all, any Asians return here. These meals appeared to be prepared with 0 pride in the culture. After the food sat in the car for a few minutes, I noticed the only thing I could smell was stale oil. I doubt they change the oil in their deep fat frier enough. This was absolute garbage.
